This Trinidad Rum - Virgin Oak & Moscatel Cask Finish was distilled at Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL) in 2016. The rum was first aged tropically in ex-bourbon casks before the journey continued to Europe, where it received an additional four years of maturation in Virgin Oak and casks that previously contained Spanish Moscatel.

The result is an intense and elegant rum with plenty of depth, spice, and fruity sweetness. The nose opens with vanilla, brown sugar, dried fruit, raisins, and orange peel, wrapped in spiced oak.

At 52%, it makes its presence known on the palate immediately, but quickly opens up with rich caramel, honey, ripe grapes, and apricot, followed by warm spices and light toasted notes from the new oak casks. The finish is long and warm with dried fruit, spiced oak, and a lingering vinous sweetness from the Moscatel casks.

A complex Trinidad rum with both gravitas and elegance, and exactly the kind of bottle that deserves to bear the IPS name.
